Sony developing new mobile chip... Old Mon Nov 20, 2006 9:56:00 AM #28512 Perm Link

Sony and former Philips chip unit NXP Semiconductors have announced they will create a joint venture to create a secure chip that enables short-range wireless interaction between handhelds, PCs and other consumer electronic devices.

Wow, people are so lazy that they cannot even drive to the store.

Thank you Sony, for yet another reason for me to hate Cell Phones...

We can thank Sony for the fall of civilization.

That sounds like a good thing to me. Less driving = less pollution, doesn't it?

I'm sorry, could someone explain what there chips do? I read the article but I can't tell what it's saying

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

Basically, they are producing a chip that will allow you to make cash transactions through your phone. You will not have the connect to the internet to do so, it will be a standalone chip that will allow transactions to take place.

And it's retarted.

How so? It seems like a good thing to me as it lessens the extreme chaos usually associated with cash transactions (I do all my bank stuff online, whenever I DO have to do something in the bank itself, it's always an aggravating experience.)

I guess maybe I'm just so asocial I don't really see any negative in cutting back on needless human interaction. Less needless anxiety attacks for me.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

There needs to be human interaction with transactions or else the problem of identity theft becomes worse.

Why does it have to be on the subject of identity theft? I think there needs to be more real human interaction period.

Um... why cops? I don't think that the police deal with identity theft.

OK, identity theft I'll give you =\

I don't think there needs to be more human interaction because, by my experience, people are fucks. The less I have to deal with them the less stress I have. It's much easier to deal with people when you only have text to go on.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

Now Artemis, you cannot say that ALL people are fucks. I mean, I come from a hick town, and was raised a city boy, and now live in the city, and people still bug me, but I have friends. Most of the people on here are also very nice.

What I am beginning to think is that there are enough fucks in the world to stand out, so all the really nice people seem less noticeable.

'course not everyone is a fuck. Most people are, though. Of course, I reckon it's important to note that I not only live in California, but in LA. That may influence my opinion juuust a bit.

The people here are nice, but that's not really 'real' human interaction, it's all mental. I can deal with people in this text based environment. But too much shit goes down when people actually interact.

Nice people don't typically stand out because it's very hard to be genuinely nice. Nice people tend to get screwed or beaten which ends up either making them bitter or making it less likely that they'll do anything. You have to work very hard to be a nice person in this world, I've noticed =\

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

Man, LA does suck. I can understand your outlook on people...

As for being a nice person, I view myself as one, and I agree that we get the short straw.

I also know what you mean about internet communication being easier.. The main one is that if you do not like someone... do not talk to them.

Its not who a person is in the inside, but what he does that defines him.
